One of the notable issues about Bahram V is his title, as most sources refer to him as Bahram-e Gōr. Although historical and literary narrations have attributed the title of Gōr for onager (wild ass) or Gūr meaning grave, this issue is worth considering. The abundance of stories and legends about Bahram V has led to such perceptions of his title, and even new fables and myths have been created about it. Looking at the titles of other Sassanid kings, we find that these titles are often associated with the names of specific cities and states. Therefore, it is appropriate to discuss the name of Bahram Gōr in relation to its connection with the city of Gōr. The purpose of this study is to explain why Bahram V was nicknamed Bahram-e Gōr. Research has so far explored this issue, but it has not critically analyzed and given a convincing answer. The present article has done in a historical method and with critical description and analysis of narratives and data using library sources. %> http://chistorys.ir/article-1-1185-en.pdf %P 91-112 %& 91 %! %9 Research %L A-10-1421-1 %+ Department of History, University of Velayat, SISTANt IRAN %G eng %@ 2008-9945 %[ 2020
