Evaluation of Masoudi's narrative on the Chinese portrayal of the Sasanians

Ali ibn Masoudi is one of the historians of the early centuries of Islam who attempted to provide a systematic history of the world up to his time. In addition to political history, he was also interested in the customs and rituals of different ethnic groups, which contain important historical data. In his work entitled Morouj al-Zahab and Maāden al-Jawhar, he deals with a report in the language of the Chinese emperor about the Sasanians, which is the main problem of the present research. The results of the research show that Masoudi's report is historically reliable and may be the result of the optimism of the Tang Dynasty Chinese towards the Sasanians and the economic, political and cultural power of the Iranians of that era.
