The altars of mosques are among the valuable works of Iranian art history, especially in the era of Buyid to the Timurids. The altars have undergone changes in different periods and in different ways due to various factors. The study of altars is one of the ways to understand the common art and architecture of the period and its results can be used to restore the principles based on new construction methods and designs. The aim of this article is to identify, compare and analyze the characteristics of the altars of Isfahan mosques in Rāzī and Āẕarī styles. The information of this applied research has been obtained through library and field study and has benefited from various levels of research and comparative methods. According to studies, the general structure of the altars from Rāzī to Āẕarī has undergone a gradual process. Mostly changes have occurred with a transition in proportions and there is not much difference in the plan. Common form features of the two methods are the use of a rectangular frame, two arches, four columns and Iranian-Islamic proportions. Most specimens have a sharp arc and a peripheral margin. One of the special features of the Āẕarī style is the use of the forehead.
