Abstract:   (3553 Views)
The present study is in descriptive-comparative method and based on analytical approach. Visual observations from findings of field, documentary and library studies shows that in addition to common motifs such as wild goats, images or symbols of the altar, rhombus images, etc., in the rock carvings (petroglyphs) of Karaftu cave in Divandarreh and motifs of Aqrablu en route of Shahin Dej- Bukan, one of the most important commonalities between the two places is the motif of rider archers throwing arrow backward. This rock-carving can considered as the most important trace for the relative and simultaneous dating of these two treasury. This method of warfare during the Parthian period was one of the methods of "war and escape" that the Parthian warriors practiced. Due to the proximity of the two works to each other, as well as the common features between their motifs, it can be said that the rock carvings inside the Karaftu cave (at least a number of them) and the rock carvings of Aqrablu belong to a common culture and created in a common period. Therefore, according to the relative chronology made about the motifs of Karaftu cave and the attribution of a part of these motifs to the Parthian period and after that era, it can infer that the rock carvings of Aqrablu also belong to the same historical period.
