The Manifestation of Musicians, Instruments, and  the Elements of  Happiness in Hafez Shirazi's Poetry

Abstract
In ancient Iran musicians (Gosan, Khaniagar, and Rameshgar) had a remarkable social and cultural status. With the advent of Islam, the range of presence and influence of this group, partly because of the great poetry works was extended. Divan-e Hafez is one of the prominent manifestations of musicians,  elements of happiness, and instruments. This study focuses on the question that why and how the protagonists appeared in Hafez's divan is worthy of study. This article seeks to answer the questions in a descriptive-analytical method: how do the musicians, instruments, and elements of the happiness manifest in Hafez's poetry, and what are the causes of this manifestation in the poetry? The findings show that in Hafez's poetry, musicians including singers ( Mughni and Motrab) and instruments - such as Sarahi, Daf, Cheng, Rabab, May, etc. - are represented with high frequency to create romantic, mystical, and educational images and themes. The favorable political, social, and cultural situation of Shiraz in the Hafez era, the positive and effective role of musicians in introducing happiness to people, the close relationship between poetry and music, Hafez's interest in singing, and his mastery in this field, the instability of the world at the time and also, Hafez's high knowledge of the musicians and musical instruments can be considered the reasons for the manifestation of musicians in the Hafez’ poetry.
