Abstract:   (3135 Views)
Memoirs in the form of autobiographies were common practices welcomed by women in contemporary Iranian history, and became an arena for displaying the "self" in the light of recognition of the "other." This article seeks to answer the question of how "other" represent in the narrative of women autobiographers of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma's family, and therefore to show how parts of the author's narrative identity formed through description of “other”. The application of this conceptual framework implies that the representation of the "other" has a direct connection with the discourse system supported by the narrators. Because as “other” described in Maryam Firooz's memoirs has a strong connection with the party and ideological perspective and the related represented identity, in Sattare Farmanfarmayian's, female gender identity has been the criterion for describing a different self-concept with the reality of patriarchal society. The description given by Mehr Mah Farmanfarmaymian, regardless of the intensity of the impact of the two aforementioned views, is apparent through a sympathetic discourse with the past.
